Steilacoom Apartment Complexes

There is no better way to truly appreciate this historical waterfront community than to live here. Four apartment complexes, each with a unique perspective, offer apartment homes in the Steilacoom Historical District.

1. Steilacoom Center Apartments (12 units)
Located at 1615 Rainier Street, it is in the heart of the Steilacoom Historic Downtown District on a corner block on Rainier, Wilkes and Lafayette Streets. The Center was built in the early 1960s on the site of one of the towns most distinctive homes: a two storied white-pillared mansion. The current brick and timber framed structure is a combination residential/commercial facility that has 12 apartments on the upper level.

The Steilacoom Post Office, a Styling Salon, Edward Jones Investments and offices for a Construction Company occupy the ground floor. The historic Behr restaurant is located directly across the street. Pioneer Orchard Park (location of a free outdoor concert series) is a short distance away.

2. Steilacoom View Apartments (8 units)
Located at 1602 Commercial Street, directly in front of the waterfront, every Apartment has spectacular views of the Puget Sound, Anderson and McNeil Island and the narrows bridge.

Green landscaping plants slope down from the front of the building. Directly south is a view station and just north by the waterfront is a beautiful park with a bandstand and viewpoint. The historical ER Rogers mansion and former famous restaurant is just down the street.

Although passenger trains no longer stop there, the historical 1914 Steilacoom Railroad Station, now closed, is also in view. Pioneer Orchard Park (location of a free outdoor concert series) is a short distance from the Commercial Street Apartment buildings.

3. Soundview Apartments (8 units)
Located at 1414 Commercial Street directly in front of the waterfront, some of the Apartments have spectacular views of the Puget Sound, Anderson and McNeil Island and the narrows bridge.

The historical three-story apartment building has a New Orleans carriage house motif, with black wrought iron lamps and signs. Located at the lower end of the towns onetime thriving business district, Soundview is reputed to have once been a railroad hotel and later the Bradley Mattress factory.

Although passenger trains no longer stop there, the historical 1914 Steilacoom Railroad Station, now closed, is also in view. Pioneer Orchard Park (location of a free outdoor concert series) is a short distance from the Commercial Street Apartment buildings.

4. The Dockside Apartments (12 units)
Located at 1403 Lafayette Street in front of the waterfront, most of the Apartments have spectacular views of the Puget Sound, Anderson and McNeil islands and the narrows bridge. The complex straddles Lafayette and Commercial Streets.

The building has colors and accessories with a maritime motif. A walk will bring you to Perkins Park, located at the intersection of Martin and Union. The park honors Steilacooms first woman doctor, Mary Perkins. Right across the street is Byrd Mill Park.

The Dockside overlooks the ferry terminal, which provides easy access to neighboring Anderson & McNeil Island. Pioneer Orchard Park (location of a free outdoor concert series) is a short distance from the Commercial Street Apartment buildings.
